Access into display cases is required both for initial installation and the ongoing maintenance of objects, exhibits and services. This must take into account the following:
- Installation procedure, is there enough room for people to install mounts and exhibits inside the case?
- Size and weights of the object, is there room for lifting equipment required to fit object?
- Conservation requirements, is there sufficient or too much air circulation space within case? Is there room for monitoring equipment and environmental conditioning material?
- Cleaning, is it possible to reach all parts of the case from the access point to clean the objects, mounts, glazing and case interior?
- Glazing health and safety, if glazing has to be handled to access case, can this be; hinged? framed? safety glass? manoeuvrable by one or two people?
