When placing objects on display their position, orientation and composition must be carefully considered and planned to present them to best effect. There are also a number of technical requirements to fulfil in addition to this visual presentation however to allow the objects to be looked after whilst on display. When these technical requirements work alongside a well designed display presentation the exhibit will allow the objects to be viewed by the visiting public and looked after by museum exhibition staff.
To enable the visual and physical access for as wide a range of people as possible. Each objects and associated information, labels etc. must be considered individually to maximise its view-ability, but also in relation to other adjacent material, and the composition of the case interior, and items external to case.
Display cases are an obviously effective way to display and protect objects, but these raise additional requirements in security and service access and the use of construction and display materials.
In developing the design of objects on display, mounts must also be carefully designed and made.
All these considerations should not compromise the object's preservation during the duration of this display as outlined in previous section care.
