The
Grand Union Canal website has been put together by digital artist
Michelle Duxbury working with students and staff of Syon Park School,
Isleworth. It is an exploration of a six mile stretch of the Grand
Union Canal from Norwood Top Lock to Thames Lock in Brentford. The
site includes some documentation of the other two strands of the project.
Oral historian, Frances Rifkin has recorded interviews about the canal, past and present, with people from the area. Some of these recordings have been incorporated into the web site and there are plans to install listening posts along the canal. Amal
and Iris Ghosh were commissioned to create a metal interpretative
panel depicting the historic and current life of the area. The mural
is being installed in Market Place, Brentford High Street .
